Do i sence a bit of snobbery here,just sold my escort cosworth as the rs scene has gone same way,replaced it with a 4.5 cerb. Sorry cerbera lol,thought id left the im better than you attitude behind as well,doesnt matter how much money,or how well educated you are,we all have 5 star threw our vains

No snobbery at all. I personally just don't enjoy having to translate posts when reading them. Particularly when there's no real excuse these days with spell checkers and "auto complete". Just smacks of laziness to me.
As for "can you build an engine". Take a look at my body off thread and when I'm not wasting hours trying to work out what someone has written on here, I'm a consultant engine development engineer by day. So yes, just about. ;-)

Ridds good on you,a lot of ppl on these forums seem to have to much money,and just get ripped off from so called specialists,the cerb i have bought,the last owner spent 5k on 3 services at a so called specialist,and they replaced the battery every year,wtf, as for txt chat,i just cant get to grips with that ,but then im old enough to remember 5 star and 3 star petrol

Text speak I find annoying when it's all over a post. Originally used when text was confined to a character count, so no need for it on here.
It is true that posts have changed over the years as those that bought new or nearly new have moved on.

I hate text speak too. I never used it even when there was a point to it.
I also find it very hard work reading badly written posts. My reaction to them is the same as when I find a car advert written in block capitals without any punctuation and littered with the wrong versions of your/you're, there/they're/their and so on.
Regardless of whether you actually appreciate the difference between these words or when to use punctuation etc the text is nonsensical until you've read it end to end to try to work out the context then re-read it to comprehend it.
I prefer to understand what I'm reading as I go. I just lose interest if it's badly written and stop reading.
There's a stripped cylinder head awaiting my attention at the moment. I wouldn't want an engine built by someone who couldn't read or write because they'd be likely to miss some subtleties in the build manuals. Any ape can assemble the parts of an engine and may even be trained to torque them correctly. They're unlikely to be able to measure clearances and floats properly nor calculate compression ratios after skimming heads.
I also find the 'could u built a engine?' a fairly common reverse snobbery assumption on forums and amongst (poor) mechanics. They seem to cling to the notion that anyone educated must be cack-handed. It's usually the educated ones building cars, boats and planes in their spare time.

It certainly dropped (last year) when I joined!
I was expecting TVR Cerbera owners; in regard of automotive engineering & knowledge to be highly intelligent, highly skilled at the cutting edge of development. The pinnacle of car enthusiast ownership.
I was disappointed.
I guess in reference to the original post.... it goes both ways.
(Sorry to those who I have just upset. I do now realise Cerbera owners encompass a wide selection of society)

I can see both sides of this argument, but we are all here to help one another along for our common interest. I've found this forum a vital source of information in my 2 years of ownership, and wherever possible I've tried to reciprocate by adding my own experiences and suggestions. This is a wonderful resource and has lead me to meet an amazing and varied group of dedicated people; from 'chequebook mechanics' through 'weekend warriors' to full blown pros. I respect each and everyone of you and the Cerbera 'brand' would be poorer without this forum.
Times change, people move on, but don't let that ruin a good thing.

I'm just keen to see the standard of this forum kept up as it has been over the years.
There's a lot of helpful people on here with a lot of knowledge and I don't want to see them move elsewhere if they, like me, they get fed up with having to decipher things that are posted.
If you don't put the effort into your posts don't expect to get any effort from the people replying who could have the answer to your problem.
