Do you have any more information?
Was the idle ok before overheating? Etc

Sounds as though it could be an inlet leak making the mixture too lean hence overheating & high idle.

Although 2000rpm idle would be some gasket leak !

Check that your throttle linkage is even & that one bank has not slackend off causing an imbalance etc.
Also put it on the laptop asap
Good Luck

110 with a working temp gauge? Are the fans not coming on?

am a complete novice when it comes to the workings of things is there an easy way to tell if fans are kicking it?

Nearly pissed myself.

Yes you can hear them but its best to have the car parked with the bonnet up so you get to view them. By 110 they should have already kicked in.

The fans should come on when the engine water temp reaches mid 90deg, find out if they come on. Open the bonnet and have a listen/look, they are right at the front of the engine bay. You may have to remove the engine cover to get a look though. If they are not on then thats you issue and we can suggest ways to get them working again.

Idol is way to high at 2000rpm, but my Cerbera is not a V8 so im not sure how to fix it but some of the V8 guys should know.

What I was implying is that the easiest way to be sure the fans are on is to open the bonnet and look at them.
