ive just taken delivery of 8 spark plugs and the twin electrode gap looks strange, all 8 are the same. Does anyone know if these are correct or need sending back? Hopefully the pic will work.

Thanks
Alan

The correct plugs are NGK BKR5EKU and they come pre-gapped. You shouldn't change the gaps.

i heard that the champion ones were ok to use as they are an equivalent part??

does the gapping on the champion look ok as a plug tho? the electrode doesnt look too clever to me?!

Those plugs don't look even close to equivalent. Personally I would stick to the correct ones. The thought of an electrode protruding too far and meeting a piston...

In The Jensen Interceptor we used Champions and they just broke off due to the engine temperature. So they won’t go in my Cerb or any other car

The champion plug WAS the original cerbera plug, the NGK is it's replacement.

I would follow the advice of a professional below acowan84 as these well meaning guess's may cost you dearly...

And the reason that the recommended plug was changed...?

I think the champion is a cooler running plug than the ngk which was its replacement. The champion always got whiskers of carbon between the electrodes unless the car was given and italian tune up every so often (and in a cerb who wouldn't want to do that?) .. but many cars back in the day were used as daily cars into cities and i suppose tvr decided it needed a hotter running and better cleaning plug. certainly the ngk versions don't display the same issues in short stop start driving. or maybe they just got a really good deal on ngk plugs !

Hi Joo,
Can't get near a plug at the mo' so I hope you don't mind the question....

Does a 'hot' plug have more or less ceramic around the electrode ?
( if that is, in fact, the difference)

thanks for the info guys, the reason im asking is coz i was struggling to get the NGK ones and these were a steal on ebay at £13 a set (new). after looking at the NGK ones, the NGK look alot better quality therefore i think i will just go for the NGK.

anyone wanting a set of champion plugs haha

Hi Guys,

talking about plugs. Anyone with Denso Iridum ones? Had good experience with them on other cars, but I'm cautios about experiments with an AJP8.

I tried them on my car. When Joo was chasing down the cause of an irritating flat spot he swapped them out and found the engine ran better on the standard NGKs. So I haven't bothered with them since.
