I have a tremendous amount of heat emulating from the engine bay and in to the cabin. Is this normal and do I just keep the windows open? I have checked the coolant and it is good, as is the temperature gauge. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
Graham.

Welcome to tvr ownership. All tvrs are generally warm cars to be in. I am going to great lengths to cut the cabin heat out of mine with new insulation, after 14 years it was getting very tiered. Ceramic coating manifolds and additional shielding while I had the engine out as I plan some euro trips in the future in the cerb. AC helps as well.

To add my Tuscan is warmer than the cerb but the roof comes off so no issues there smile

Seconded - my transmission tunnel gets very warm as does the gearstick and handbrake lever. When moving at a pace hot air blows up through the gaiters for both!

Yes can be very hot in summer and bloody freezing in winter. Check to see if your air vents by your legs are open.

Removing the cats cuts heat down a lot as well.

Wrapping your exhaust helps a lot. Cat removal. Check your heat shielding.

There is a mod to modify/block air flow to reduce the flow of hot air into the cabin.

I really miss watching the heat hayes rise from just in front of the windscreen on a really cold morning/day!

I was sat behind a Diablo a couple of days ago and the amount of heat coming out of the engine vents reminded me of the cerb frown

Fwiw, removing the cats made a huge difference to heat management.

One problem is that the windscreen vents on some cars cannot be closed, and they are always fed by the heater matrix, and the coolant flow is constant. I have bought (but not fitted) a Fiesta electric valve that some people have used to stem coolant flow to the heater matrix.

When I got mine I spent the first week sweating before I realised that pressing the hot and cold knobs turned the fans on and off, little embarrassing but a lot cooler now :-)
