Jacking points

Guys I need to get the car raised so I can get underneath and give her the once over prior to having a service next week. Where is the best and safest place to place the jack?

Thanks guys very helpful and completed. Good news it all looks solid underneath., but will give it a good coating of blue steel and paint

The underside can look in decent nick, but its generally the first few inches where the outrigger sits in the longitudinal body recess and the triangular bracket that rots first (and the most) due to dirt, grit, crap accumulating and staying damp for long periods.

And if your chassis has waxoyl all over it, its even harder to see.

Again thank you for the information and also the picture. I have been informed of the areas that are not easy to get to. I will make a concerted effort to investigate further.

I always lift the front in the centre of the front cross member, where the tow hook is.

Lifting the rear in the centre is more of a challenge, but I'm now using a Landrover bottle jack which has a cradle.

That's what the manual states you should do. It contradicts the diagram. I lift on the cross member with the tow hook too.

I think the manual states to lift the rear on the outrigger tubes but as close to the main chassis rail as possible not on the outrigger corner itself.
