Back from a service!
Discussion
Just got my car back from a service and it feels like a new car
.
The biggest difference being the oil pressure spring being changed. I cannot express how important this is to people who don't change theirs.
Basically I now have an extra 20-30psi under load which means alot smoother and quieter cruising!
My rear anti rollbar bracket had snapped and is now fixed, making the car alot nicer to drive with more control
.
Everything just feels so much better
I love this car!

The extra pressure shouldn't make it any smoother or quieter - if it was low enough before to make a noise it will have already lunched itself!
Higher oil pressure isn't necessarily good - takes more power driving the pump. It should be just high enough to supply enough flow under all conditions - remember it's not the pressure itself doing the lubricating.
However, it seems a higher number can't hurt piece of mind.

SXS said:Thinner oil requires less pressure. Anyway, it's not the pressure, it's the PRESENCE of oil in the bearings that provides the lubrication.
A combination of oil PSI and oil thickness is what it takes - if you have thicker oil, then less pressure is required - if you have thinner oil, then more pressure is required...
Hi there,
The car definitely sounds quieter when cruising.
I am obsessive about checking the oil level on my car as it drinks so much, the pressure before under load was 60psi (certainly high enough?) but now is 80-90psi.
On cold startup the oil pressure rises to 60 alot quicker (a good thing surely?).
Thing is, the car sounded quieter last time I got it serviced too and I didn't do the spring that time.
Just dead chuffed with the service really
.
Hi Penny,
The service was carried out by MRTuning. Not a TVR specialist but an engine builder who specialises in Japenese motors (850bhp Skylines etc).
I trust Him completely and He's worked on the AJP8 in the past

I would recommend Mayur to anyone
