Hi guys, the button on the end of my handbrake has stopped working so the handbrake wont stay up when I try to engage it. Any ideas as to how I can fix it?.

I have removed the chrome hand grip from the end of the handhake and the hand brake gaitor but I cant see anything there that I can adjust.

Is it that issue where the handbrake gets bent over slightly as over time pulling it up kinks it over to the right. The handbrake no longer catches and the button gets stuck or seems to have no effect.

Had this issue once and after a discussion with Ian @ Castle fixed it with a hammer literally - just knocked the handbrake back straight.

Apparently is a common issue(?)

Interesting idea I will have a look and see, but I can pull the button out at the end of the handbrake and it then seems to engage so I was thinking it might be a spring or something.

To operate mine I have to lower the handbrake fully first as if to prime it. I've not investigated further as I'm too lazy.

Good advice guys, pulling up and to the left has it working again.

I was kinda looking forward to hitting it with a big hammer as advised in a post above, kinda as payback for some of the hassle it has caused me this year, and to let it know that no matter how much she pushes me ...... I'm still the Boss.!!!

But settled for giving it a nice wash and polish and putting to bed in the Garage!.

Thank you very much for the phantastic advise.
It really worked for me as well.
I thought it would have to go to the workshop for dismantle.
Saved me cash and hassle.

Such great people here, thanks so much !!!!!!!
