Dash pod connector function
Discussion
I removed my dash pod last night and this has led to another question. I had hoped to figure this out myself but after reading the workshop manuals and looking through wiring diagrams I can't figure out what the 5 pin ribbon cable at the top of the dash pod is supposed to do. I'm talking about the one shown here unplugged:

It looks like it should connect to the pins as circled but before I connect it up I wondered what it's function is.
Does anyone know?

Is yours the one with very low mileage?
Sorry just a little joke. No idea, good luck
Yes - that's the one. I don't think a tad over 5k miles per year is a high miler...Sorry just a little joke. No idea, good luck

In fact, while I have the dash out why don't I fix the mileage issue up:

Is it connected to the indicator cancel pcb board, if so should be easy to trace it back as the board is fixed onto the steering column.
So is it to do with the indicator functions? They work. This is my problem - as far as I can tell the steering wheel functions work but this wasn't connected.

I just wondered if it was for the indicator lights on the dash, it has to be something like that.
Mill light, and buzzer maybe.
My mil light works as does the buzzer. The indicators on the dash also work and flash as expected. I can't figure out what it is supposed to do and if it has been disconnected for a reason or by accident.Mill light, and buzzer maybe.

I have no idea then, can you not trace it down and see where the ribbon cable heads off too.
Good thinking - I thought it was heading down below the depths of wiring spaghetti but it turns out it comes back up again and plugs into the ice detector light and main beam indicator...which don't light up currently.I will plug it back in and see what happens. Hopefully as these are just indicator lights it won't be possible to cause any electrical faults if I plug it in the wring way around. I hate ribbon cables - I much prefer coloured wires I so I can check the connector is correct before plugging it in.
