Second hand engines are a hard sell at the best of times, when they're TVR engines it just gets harder. Personally I always assume that any engine I buy needs rebuilding and have very rarely been surprised!
If you're saying that it really needs a refresh (or a rebuild) then I should advertise it for £1k but be prepared to take less.
If you're confident that it's good inside it might be more profitable to break it as potential buyers can see what they're getting.
