Hi,
When filling my Aircon, it has symptoms of a blocked pipe, which Glenn (TarmacShredder) has told me it's likely to be the switch valve thing near the evaporator in the drivers footwell.

I know it's a mechanical valve, hence the question. Is it fixable? Hammer etc or am I best just replacing it?

Thanks Daz

If it's stuck then it's not something you can fix but if it's choking due to moisture then recovering the gas and vacuuming the system (for a long time) should probably do it

If the tx valve has blocked it may me due to moisture but if it was working and the system has not been taken apart where did the water come from ?? I always replace them plus a new filter ,flush system etc . The parts should not be to expensive it's just how hard it is to get at the components that takes the time and so cost of repair ?

Can you blow through the receiver/drier (filter)? First place to check for this symptom.
The expansion valve is not serviceable other than a specialist and a new one from a TVR dealer is around £75+vat etc.

Looks like I'll buy another one, are they generic like the reciever/drier is?

All the air con parts should be fairly standard parts . Change the filter and the tx at the same time if you have a part number on the parts from the supplier you could could try charley at papworth air good chap and stocks most things at trade price. (Half price ) good luck richard

Where's the filter? I've changed the receiver/drier, trinity switch and condenser so far and pump is good

The receiver/dryer is also the filter, I have sent you an email with some more info on the TX/evaporator valve.

Thank you.

Ok so apart from the condenser, pump and pipes, everything has been/needs replacing!
