It's ok I can get out really!!, But....

I'm having a problem with my door control unit on top of the fuel tank. At some stage in the past someone has removed the main live and neutral connector plug and replaced it with standard spade connectors, hence when you go over a bump the power lead falls off and the door and boot solenoids stop working.

I've tightened the spades up, but its still a bit fragile, so I'm looking for the original connector block.

Does anybody now where you can get the standard connector, I couldn't see anything similar at RS? It's a nine pine one as shown in the picture (excuse my fat fingers).
I guess I could replace everything with narrow spades but it would be good to have the locking connector.

Many Thanks

Those white nylon connectors are the devil's work and should be banished from this earth!

Are you taking about the connector with just the positive and the earth?

If so why don't you just take the connector block off and get smaller spade ones for the two wires to push onto the control box?

Do you need the connector block for this one, it's only two wires isn't it?

It is just for the live and earth plug. I was thinking of going for a new connector as it locks in place, and I was thinking it might be a bit more resilient over the bumps

I could try the smaller spades first, and see how it goes, but it was a pain in the arse the other day when I stopped in a village. While I could get out I couldn't shut the door in case the window went up and I didn't have any tools with me. I ended up wrapping the seat belt round the door to stop it flying open while I took a quick pit stop.

PS electronics look useful thanks for the link

I don't think the smaller spades will come off and if you are like me you probably have them lying about in the bottom of a toolbox somewhere.

Good luck.
