Hi everyone, I am new to the TVR Cerbera ownership side of things and I have a slight problem that I am looking for some help/advice on please.. Following around 2 / 3 weeks of not using the car and it not being plugged into my trickle charge in the garage (yes my fault - I am an idiot) the battery was completely dead. The guy I purchased the car from had a brand new battery and start motor fitted. so that was fine. Following a few days on the trickle charge the ignition and radio, lights, horn, wind screen wipers etc started working and I managed to fire her up. Following another day or two I took her out for a long two hour spin and everything was fine however the electric windows, and buttons to access the car didn't work and still don't work following the trickle charge saying the battery is full?! This has resulted in me having to unlock the car via the emergency lever in the boot and to get out of the car when I am in it using the emergency lever in the car itself.. What I find strange is everything works electrically, apart from the windows and the doors. I also go to lock it and the immobiliser light does not come on and flash like it did before? Does the immobiliser need resetting with the card key code for everything to go back to normal? I am really sorry if this has been asked before but I would appreciate some help. If I still can't resolve it we have a local TVR specialist not far from where I live however I am not keen on them as they seem very unwilling to help. If anyone is local and can help (I am willing to pay of course) that would be great. I am based in Farnborough Hampshire.

Await your response - Cheers again Rob

Try disconnecting the battery for a bit, unplugging the door/window ecu, try pressing and holding keyfob etc

I thought there was quite a few friendly tvr garages down south, just find another.....

Hi thanks for your advice, Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but how do I disconnect the battery and ECU unit for the doors and windows? Where do I locate these parts?

Have you checked your fuses? Have a look around behind the door/window control box too. They can be delicate and my last Cerbera had an in-line fuse to just that control box installed.

Also, people get a little protective over information on secret access on here - do you think you could remove some info from your post on emergency access.

In your boot pull away the velcro'ed strip above fuel tank. I think the door window is the last (or one from last) on your right. It has a big sticker on saying door window control unit.

Battery is passenger side, in engine bay, under a panel near the windscreen

If your tv plays up pull the plug and wait 60 seconds and try again after you've plugged it all back in. It's just the same for cerberas. They go and throw a tizzy when power is low etc.

yes The one I am restoring had an intermittent problem opening the door from outside, it worked 50%. The battery wasnt holding charge so I put on a new battery and it has been 100% since. No problems at all now.

It just shows how sensitive these boxes are to voltage and it sounds like yours has gotten confused when your battery drained.

This is normal!

Unplug the battery, leave 60 seconds, re-attach the battery and hold the fob down for 10 seconds until the lights flash!

Make sure the boot is open when you do this - else you won't get in if it doesn't work first time!

It's just the fob needing synching.

Shout if it doesn't work.

Dont learn the hard way...whenever you disconnect the battery make sure your keys aren't inside.I always leave a door open just in case.

Hi Rob.

Obviously you have Racing Green near you but if you want a small indie you could do a lot worse than Calvin the Deputy RO of the Berkshire TVRCC, he runs Wilton Morgan Garage 01189 340919, based in Hurst which is near Twyford. He fixed some door issues for me recently and my Cerb is currently there for the zoorst to be welded. A lot of the Berks TVRCC are taking their cars to him
