Chassis Rebuild T540 VH0
Discussion
Trying not to call it chassis porn but............

and then...................

There's ...................

and finally.......................

Original steering rack back in, looks brand new, love it, probably gonna be another couple of weeks till done completely, new radiator has arrived, a few issues with exhaust, somebody threw the speed6 pattern away so my old thing is the new pattern, and my old cats were just plain empty of cat stuff, so have ordered proper decats from ACT, manifolds wrapped, engine leak tested and is apparantly 'MINT' AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH,
can't believe it 5% leakage, so what, I am more than happy, the history file I got has a lot missing, but the car seems to have been really looked after, apart from the chassis she looks great, now I can start to build the file properly.
Diff is in Blackpool and I'm waiting for the call, so keeping busy doing the painting n polishing where I can, still gutted I can't run to the Nitrons but I have done as much as I can, Protechs were going back on as I left.
Point to note the car that came in 3 weeks after mine, its chassis came back same day, nowhere near so much welding/repair work needed, V lucky.
More photos Friday.... must find some more money????????
Cheers

Well spotted, its a standard 99 speed6, however, as so much original material was cut out or just plain missing, a lot of the reference points for chassis body alignment also got lost. The body and chassis were put back together as a confidence check for alignment and the opportunity arose to incorporate some chassis mounted seat bracing and anchor points, instead of just bolting to the fibreglass, they're gonna be firmly secured to the shiny solid white stuff underneath, bit of overkill for me as I'm not gonna go tracking etc but it might appeal to someone in the future and I did like the idea of a more solid support.
Hope that answers your question.

Happy to help and support anyone I can, hence the blog on here, PM anytime, Will have more pictures and updates on Friday, Nick (willow)has also been taking pictures along the journey so should be a nice selection to look at.
On a completely different track, is anyone running with the speed6 engine warranty from TVR Power is it as simple as it sounds cos i'm tempted, unless its 1000's up front, what are the details?
DUN CHOMPIN' can't stop smiling

Popped around to see the chassis progress this evening, took some Heroes and posh chocky biscuits, and its looking really good 4 corners back together, waiting for Diff to come back from Grantura Engineering in Blackpool, having a proper makeover, apparently it was proper f****d, and I couldn't really tell. How's that for ignorance.
Exhaust saga continues, guys from JP picked up some of my exhaust but not the bit they really need, apparantly, its not gonna impact the job, but I do find it slightly 'carry on' or keystone cops, people throwing stuff away then an order comes in and ooooooooh panic or rather 'don't panic Mr Manwering' 'They don't like it upem' make a new one, steel an old one, like to think thats typical TVR, funny.
Latest phots below, callipers in, might paint the TVR part of the casting later but I do like the plain look, operational not decorational, cheers, till the next instalment, karl

Latest Chocky Diff

Pretty sure that is my oil pressure sensor, as to why the speed6 has one, why not all the best cars have everything, even stuff they don't need, I just know that my old one leaked, get this, apparantly it was meant to, huh???????????? or maybe they just did, but this new one is tight, no oil on the floor FAB.

There might well be a diagram, but unfortunately I wouldn't have a clue, my best advice, would be to speak to the guys at a recognised chassis restorer, mine is in Newark at Willow Sports Cars who work with Str8 six, and i'm sure if yoiu told them of your plight they would help where they can, especially if biscuits were involved, all the best, k

Ive just stripped my chassis but lost track of where all the spacers and shims go ,is there an exploded diagram,as a foot note the inner lower front arms, the bolts had seized on the bushes and torn the rubber, beware, im going for nylon all round .
I kept all my bolts bagged up, then laid them out & took photos. Have a look at my rebuild album here, the bolts are all laid out in the middle of it, you can see some fitted towards the end. When you see them laid out like that it’s quite obvious where they should go. Sorry for thread hijack, the speed 6 chassis confused me for a bit! Looking good though
