I've seen it a few times now when first opening the car up, the door will not release properly on the first press of the unlocking button so a 2nd press is required.

This happens with both the wing mirror button and the internal one.

I presume it's something to do with it being cold and the window rubbers sticking and the usual "they all do that sir!" - but would like to be sure.

Had this problem with the drivers door - turned out to be a loose connection brought about by rusted contacts..

I get a healthy clunk, but the door seems to stick on the catch. Is that what you get?

Only happens sometimes, usually if I don't give the button a proper push, but an 'only just got it to release' type of push.

The door seal rubber is what pings the door open when you release the catch, if your rubber isn't as rubbery as it used to be then it's quite likely that the door won't open as easily. Compound that with the cold weather and it's just one of those things...

My passenger door sometimes takes a bit of persuasion to open.

Hmm, can't imagine its the rubber, it isn't that old as the car is only 2 1/2 years young.

I'm very gentle (read: likes a big girl's blouse) with it still, so that's probably why.

When I get a bit more time I'll have a peek around at the latch mechanism see if its anything obvious.

My passenger door was like this when i first got the car...few squirts of WD40 in the lock release mechanism, opened and shut the door a few times....'Bobs your uncle!'....

Ah, the old squirt it in and loosen her up trick! Will give that a go as its within the bounds of my mechanical incompetance!

Tried it this morning on the drivers door, so will see how it goes....

Also for the first time it stuck when opening it from the inside which was damn annoying, but reminded me to get out the WD40 while she was warming up.
