Anyone with a 4.5 not running well?
Discussion
The plan is to stick a twin turbo SBC V8 in there tune it to 1bhp per kg and have it head butt a Hennessy Venom GT, so ideally want to start with the lightest Cerby available. I believe the 4.5 Lightweight was 1,060kg versus the non-lightweight, or normal 1,100kg. Hence also looking for one where the current owner is ready to give up trying to fix it. Don't really want to play with something that isn't already broken.
Not an expert on TVR knowlegde by any measure, so apologies if I'm wrong on the stats.
Thanks

There were only ever a handful of genuine lightweights built. Some of this handful overlapped with factory Red Rose specs and all are pretty much considered the most desireable of Cerberas and command a strong price. It would be unusual therefore to find one that wasn't kept in fine fettle by an owner who expected good money if sold.
In general though, I'm not all that convinced that a Cerbera is especially suitable for a 3-fold increase in power. You'll have so little left at the end that you may as well have started from scratch. Might not something like an Ultima GTR make a better starting point for something to punch at Hennesey Venom levels?

I would have thought it would be cheaper just to find the crappiest, usable Cerbera around, then get the bonnet, boot and doors done in CF?
Just what everyone has said. The difference in weight between a real "LW" (Which was achieved by thinner GRP panels) and a 'standard Cerb' (The Ultimate Oxymoron) is nothing compared to the weight you will save by stripping the interior, changing the exhaust and propshaft etc.
PLUS
The LWs will be expensive compared to standard so you can save a bit for your conversion's tasty bits.

My 2001 LW, series II, whatever
was 50kg heavier than my 96 standard Cerb.
Ah yes Russ, but that'll be because the 4.5 had Calipers and Brake Pads on it
was 50kg heavier than my 96 standard Cerb.
