I want new speakers in the Cerbera, the tinny sound at the moment is getting annoying. To start with, has anyone taken old, tinny pioneers out and straight swapped them with something where there is warm bass and a nice sound?

Tried many, many combinations and thrown large quantities of dosh at the same problem. The space for the little rears is too small for anything remotely useful and the door speakers are so low down in the footwell that I have found nothing, at any price, that will meet my requirements. The bass is lost somewhere down there and it still sounds tinny. I put a 10" sub in the helmet holder which helped a bit but the problem is that I now have top and mid frequencies and sub bass but still no bass worth having. If I tweak the sub amp to increase the cutoff to bring through bass frequencies rather than just thump and rumble boy racer frequencies it just does it so badly that I can't bear it. If anyone has a combination that works I will be glad to hear about it too.

What speakers have you tried and what head unit?

These sound good that I fitted to the front of mine:-

I've also good infinity in the back, but needed an infinity sub in between the rear seats too.

The main problem with the door speakers is that when you brace yourself on track with your knees, the door speakers are right there making it very uncomfortable.

But my car is not simply a track toy, it has to be pleasant to drive 400 miles to the track of choice as well.

Any thoughts/solutions very welcome.

Exactly where I'm coming from. Mine is a treat of a luxury GT car first and foremost, with every box ticked apart from the warm sounding stereo :-)

Infinity are very good quality speakers, but sometimes lack a bit of bass.

I have tried (in the doors) JBL, Hertz and Diamond. None produced solid bass that I was happy with. I have some Hertz speakers in my truck which has them positioned higher in the doors and they are fantastic speakers and I rarely even turn the sub on. Over the years I have tried a few head units, Pioneer 6300BT, a cheapo Sony and a Kenwood which is now in my MX5 and sounds great even with the original speakers. I did think about putting a spare Hertz EP4D amp in the Cerbera boot and going silly with the front speakers but I'm concerned about clearance for the glass when the windows are lowered.

Pretty sure the head unit is not the problem. I tend to move them around between the cars at different times of year and they consistently perform well in anything but the Cerbera. The Pioneer sounded bloody fantastic in a Jag XJ8

I think I need to dissect the Cerbera door and see just how big I can go without clearance problems.

Quick tip, it's not the speakers it's the door smile

The speakers need room to move (breathe if you like), you need to cut holes in to the door lining so the speakers can utilise the doors internal air space.

Thanks, I will look into that. Can't quite picture the internals at the moment, not been in there for a year or so.
