1996 4.2 MBE ecu. Using a Netbook with Windows XP.

Got the Mil light flickering on and off and sometimes loss of power. So downloaded from the TVR site the diagnostic software. First time tried the old version. Second time tried the new version. Got a prolific converter and installed using the disc that came with it (it works on another diagnostic tool I use).
First time I opened the software file - the blue square with TVR on it - it said not connected. The port automatically selected was 11. So in advanced settings changed this to 1 then 2 then 30 to try. Still no go. On the bottom of the screen says trying to connect but nothing happens.

So uninstalled old version and installed new one. Same as before, not connected. Changed the port to 2 and restarted. This time got the following message "cannot find the configuration file for ecu ID......" So I am assuming I got a connection but now stuck with this last message. Have tried searching but there are too many suggestions that conflict.

If someone can explain in a nice simple method what the configuration file is and how to locate it without using computer jargon as I am simply a hillbilly when it comes to this, I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks

I had the exact same thing yesterday with my Tuscan. You need to download the diagnostic software from the Graham Varley website not the Cerbera one. It has an updated patch file on it so you can see all the screens.

Either version http://www.tvr-cerbera.co.uk/software.html works fine - at least they did when I put them up there.

Thank you for all this. I will try each one and see how we go. Fingers crossed.

Update.

Tanguero, your version does indeed work, com 1. Finally up and running, thank you. clap (Maybe time to bin the TVR site download perhaps?).

As I suspected, lambda sensor on the odd bank has failed and the even one is slow so thank goodness I already bought 2 NGK ones.

Apologies Tanguero. I didn't mean to slate your good work. I've just checked and my original software came from The Tvr Site not yours!

No prob - I didn't think it would be the one from my site (and didn't assume that was what you meant) - as I found and fixed this same problem a few years ago when I first put it up there.
