Anyone fitted a touch screen tablet/PC where the center speaker is/was?

Was thinking it would be handy for SatNav as I never have the radio on anyway. Any pictures, I need to feast my eyes.

Centre speaker - pre 98 cerbs in the hole under the radio, to the left of the ashtray.

Had the same idea. Looks FAB but bloody difficult angle to access for practical purposes.

I fitted a car pc in the boot with navigation, music on an SSD, camera & playback software, track data logging, the ECU diagnostics, and bluetooth. The touch monitor I used is a single DIN slide out that fits perfectly with the shape of the dash, unfortunately it seems to no longer be available.

ETA: I have never played music on it since testing it to see that it works!

Would an iPad mini fit in there?
A few velcro strips hidden from view to hold it in place should do the job. Could be tricky to use on the go though.

How about one of the Parrot Asteroid units?

OT: For christmas my wife has ordered me a Pioneer DEH-P77MP and some new speakers. smile

I too had the same idea but been waiting on the android app to be finished to be able to run the on board diagnostics.
The stereo/hi-fi in my Cerbera is one of the worst sounding systems I have come across so I am wanting to put proper speakers in the doors, rear pillars and remove the centre, anyone got a wiring diagram for the cross over box so I can remove it at the same time?
Be interested to see what others have done with their installs.

Mmm I like the crackling in the background of Five Live...its in keeping with the TVR Theme...old 'n quirky.

Hi Byff,

I made this:

Using half of this flat packed sheet metal control gear box:

Sits just in front of the speaker and the base slides under the center consul part, when fitted the carpet gives good tension below and keeps it in place.

Looks pretty good.

I need to do some testing with screen size, location and ease of access but for the time being, I need to sort out a horrendous oil leak from the cooler.

As said above, I also need to wait till the app is released so I don't buy the wrong tablet.

Tangero, where did you get the silver buttons from for the windows, heater and steering wheel controls? are they just a stick on cover or a complete button/switch?

Aftermarket stick on - I have the same. Someone on here made them a few (several) years ago

I also had a set but decided not to use the window one's, i still have them around somewhere.

Years ago i used to make the aluminium rings to fit over the switch as seen better on the close up picture showing rear window demister and air con switches.

Thanks for the offer Sonny - but I don't know what I'm going to buy yet. Think I'll have to wait till I have a better understanding of what I'm playing with.
