Hi All,

As the title suggests, I am about to begin a refurb on the cerb, chassis specifically but it needs a few other things following it failing its inspection, seems there are a few things that the Aussies don't like! I moved over to Melbourne around 7 months ago and bought the car over with me but have only just gotten around to getting it inspected.

1. Windscreen is "sandblasted" - So I am in need of a windscreen, not sure who/where would be the lowest cost option, any suggestions or does anyone happen to have one they would sell? I have a later cerb so think its the 545mm size I need. Also wondering if there is an alternative, such as polishing it??

2. Copper Brake Lines - Apparently the have to be steel as they don't allow copper. However, does anyone know if they are copper lines or copper nickel lines?

3. Rust on Chassis - Knew this needed attention but since shipping the car, the powder coating is flaking worse than me after being in the sun for 12 hrs, trying to write a lost of essentials that I will need with rough costs as I don't have super deep pockets so cant do everything I want at once - anything to add to the list below and does anyone have any of the items on the list they would like to sell?

a. Full bush kit, thinking about poly rather than std
b. new flexible brake hoses
c. bolt kit - anyone have a list of the sizes as I can get these in Aus.
d. heat reflective material - I have seen a kit on the parts section, looks like good value?
e. Steel brake lines - can get in Aus
f. Amber front lenses - thinking of getting an amber paint
g. front drop links - mine are bowed
h. steel for outriggers - what are the sizes/specs?

Any advice on how to get the body off without the use of a 2 pillar lift is welcome, I have a double garage but unfortunately no beams to suspend things from, thinking about using 2 engine hoists to get the body off, anyone done it using this method?

Disappointed that it failed, but to be honest, I have known that the chassis has needed attention since I bought it 3 years ago. On the plus side, I think it is the only red rose late version cerb in the whole of Aus so it will be worth getting sorted.

Ha! There are a few of us here that have recently jumped through these hoops. Have you found the stickies at the top of the Cerbera page as there are a few very useful ones:

  • Nuts & bolts
  • Torque settings
  • Alternate parts list
Those stickies/WiKis will have most of the info you need. There are also a number of useful threads on getting the bodies off.

BTW - If you need a contact out in Melb, I've got a good friend there with plenty of workshop space, handy with the welder and loves restoring cars. Drop me a PM and I'll put you in touch. wink

Hi Mike,

I will check out the stickies for sure! You also jogged my memory regarding contacts in Melbourne, you did give me these while I was still in the UK, very much appreciated now that I am now here, just forgot I had the details!

Hi Andy, thanks for the link, just had a quick look and there is more than enough detail to get me started.

Already looking forward to the day when the chassis comes back, brilliant white, and I get to sit it on axle stands and bolt everything back on!

I forgot to mention that I also want to fit a Tuscan pedal box (which I have already), any advice or help on what throttle cable to buy?

Easy enough to get the body off using engine hoists.
