In the past ive found any leaks within a matter of mins but just cant find how or where the water is getting into the boot.

It is only getting the carpet damp and only between the two humps that hous the exhaust. yet all of the surrounding carpet is dry.

It doesnt do it when you wash the car and if you drive through a rain storm its ok. But leave the car out in any thing even fine drizzle and the boot floor is wet. Any ideas.

The filler cap is sealed, the boot seal is making contact all around and is also bonded to the car and the hinge bold are sealed. i just cant find a thing.
please help its starting to smell.

Many thanks.

You gotta stop takin a kip in that boot when you're plastered after your regular piss-up sessions....

or - it could be body damage underneath or something? where exactly does it get wet? you can use CSI forensic techniques here, best thing to do, go down to the local banger, and ask the men in blue to come out and have a look - and if they can find the problem - they get a tenner or pint or two - which ever they prefer - just dont get back in the car after getting hammered - otherwise they'll be forced to throw you back in the boot...

Mine leaks around the petrol filler if the car is parked nose down a hill as water sits around it when it rains.

Kevin63 modified his, and put a little drain hole either side to stop the build up of water, when the car was parked with the nose pointing down hill. It also cured the possibilty of water 'seaping' into the tank.

Have a look at the mastic around the light covers. This was the cause of my water ingress issue.

Cheers,

So right in the middle of the boot ?

Have you checked round the boot light & behind the numberplate/boot latch ?

I had this after my better half gently touched (!) another car when reversing out of a parking space.

There looked to be no damage, but the GRP had cracked beneath the paint (which was also cracked but you could hardly see it) at the 90degree angle where the "bumper" section meets the vertical rear panel below the number plate.

result was exactly as you describe - soaked carpets between the exhaust humps.

Down side was that it cost £400 to repair and respray!!!

cheers

There is a switch near filler cap that works light in boot.Try resealing the switch ,i've been told its been the cause of a few leeking boots.

The switch is on the other side to the filler cap & screws into the side of the body, rather than the boot. The wire then feeds down behind the fuse box, so if it was leaking there, I'd suspect the fusebox side of the boot to be damp, rather than the middle....

Cracked grp sounds like it could be the culprit. There were a few marks on the bumper section when i got the car. That never even crossed my mind. Many thanks.

All other possibles had allready been done but thanks for the replies.

dont forget that they can leak around where the boot telescopic hydraulic arms (or whatever you call them) are connected.
Find a friend you trust ! Tell him the secret way in. Get in boot with a torch. Give mate a hosepipe and then look for leaks.
