Driving up to Scotland today I seem to have developed a bit of a misfire. Idles around 5-600 rpm and sounds rough. Oddly, seems better when using a bit more gas whilst on the road. When it was in the garage a couple of months ago, they had a misfire problem that they said was due to fuel. After draining the tank and refilling it was ok - they had tried everything else and that was the last thing. I'd be surprised if it was another tank of bad fuel though. As I'm up in Scotland a few hundred miles from home, I don't have any tools with which to take anything apart and check sparks or anything.

Any suggestions of what I can try or any recommendations for a garage near Sterling?

ETA: I have magnecore leads, I filled up at ESSO today with 97 and It's been rather wet traveling up.

you could try dreadnought garage in callander just 15 minutes outside stirling. They are/were TVR specialists.

I'd try and get some standard leads and new quality coil packs. Surely a normal garage could fit?

If you are struggling in the next few days I am in Ayrshire and you welcome to use any tools or any ajp spares you need to help you out.

It does sound like a ignition side of things I had a coil pack start to do the same under load.

I'd suspect the problem may be related to the rain, if the coil packs get wet it can cause a misfire

It usually only happens when the car is washed but biblical amounts of rain could have the same effect biggrin

Yep it was pretty biblical at times, especially passing lorries. Hopefully it will just dry out and be fine...

If it is misfiring at low revs but ok with more throttle then I would suspect that the connectors for the lambda sensors have got wet. The misfire disappears with more throttle as the engine comes off closed loop fueling and the lambda output is ignored.

Mine used to do this regularly after "wet running" until I replaced the crappy connectors with properly waterproof ones.
