Hi guys, I'm preparing for a body off chassis refurb and would like to know you thoughts on going full poly bush or sticking with original type?

Also, who re the best sources for both types?
Cheers

I would replace diff bushes as these appear to be a pig to change on car. A worn poly bush is easier to change than a metalistic one.

Definitely replace the diff bush with poly!! As for the others, I changed mine all to poly a few years ago and to be honest it didn't really make much difference with one exception.

The large poly bushes for the inboard end of the front drag arm tend to self destruct. After getting through a couple of sets in as many years I changed them back to OEM. They also all have a tendency to squeak and click when they are cold. Given the cost of the poly bushes I will be reverting to OEM as and when they need changing in the future.

I have poly on rear axle and std on front. I will now fit poly bushes to front also, mostly because of easier installation/replace. Mine are manufactured by Powerflex and have separate bearing sleeve and I have not noticed squeaking.

For my refurb I wanted to poly the diff but rubber for everything else. Problem is that you can purchase a complete 'off-the-shelf' kit for the poly bushes but all the rubber bushes have to be priced up individually. For the sake of an 'easy life', I decided to fit poly, get the car back on the road and then switch back to rubber at a later date.

I changed from a Scottibush to an Englibush. I found the scotty bush difficult to live with and was very harsh even if the ride was not bumpy. It was also very difficult to extract when I finally decided to replace it. Performance wise it was silent which was a bit disappointing as you never got any feedback.

The new Englibush is a vast improvement, Its what a cerb owner should have, noisy, great control and offers the good feedback when pushed to the limit.

hope that helps.

I have virtually a full set of Powerflex bushes that I'm not intending to fit. Contact me if interested (I'll send you the part numbers on request via PM).

I suspect ukkid35 purchased eurobush
By mistake. The prospect of wasted time, red tape lack of compliance made him fit Aussiebush instead.

Only my opinion of course.
Good luck in your bush search.

Split poly bushes for the diff, make future replacement so much easier.

As for the rest of the car, I've poly bushed everything and so far everything is great. Does worry me the people who say they have worn out etc prematurely but perhaps a reference of mileage would help. I know with the powerflex ones I've used there isn't much material between bush collar and suspension component.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the feedback, sounds like the biggest benefit for poly is the ease of fitting with maybe a bit better feel.

I didn't realise until looking into it that the difference in price between the std and powerflex ones was so much!

ukkid35 - thanks for the offer, I will drop you a pm.
