I'm working my way round the little jobs that I've been putting off and I have a front wheel bearing that is grinding a little.

I've heard some people say that they are from a jeep cherokee, others have told me a ford transit. Can anyone confirm either way?

Also, how easy is it to remove/fit. Is it just a case of take out the hub bolt and remove parts, replace with new stuff, or is there a lot more jiggery pokery involved.

Meant to add: Are there any seals in there that need replacing at the same time.
Don't want to start taking it apart and find that I don't have all the parts!!!

Cheers
Andy

Yes, Grand Cherokee front bearing, From memory I think I was quoted about £250 + Vat.

I found that the bolt holding the two halves together was loose - TVR fit this bolt to replace the drive shaft which would have a big nut on the end. Therefore, I didn't need to replace mine in the end having removed it!

It is easy to replace the bearing. I think all you need is a long reach (8mm?) allen key. You access the bolts from the far side of the hub carrier.

Thanks Richard

I'll have a go later in the week.

One of my searches said you can get the number off the bearing and get it from a bearing supplier for a tenner.
