Passenger window 'ISSUE' , OK, a problem.
Discussion
Went to Brooklands today, what a great place! Thay banking its something else!
Anyway, in the carpark my passenger tries to get in and the window doesnt go down the door opens after a pause but the window just stays fully up. He gets in and I close the door from outside being careful not to smash the glass. On the way home I try the window, that seems to work fine, but then stops about 2 inches from the top of travel. My first thoughts are the sensor at the bottom of the door, but the cabin lights are out and why would this stop the window from going up and down?
When I arrived home I took the inner door panel off to check the connectors all seems OK. So put it back together and try resetting the ECU above the fuel tank, still no joy.
So does anyone have any ideas? I have checked all the fuses, do you think it could be the control box?
I need it fixed by Friday, or I am a dead man!

Hello Nick, this is going to sound like a lame answer but.... yesterday I had exactly the same problem but it was on the drivers side. It happened while I was at Halfwits so I had to leave the window open. I turned off the alarm, opened and closed the door, reset the alarm and then opened the door and it worked fine. Got home and the problem recurred. It didn't close yesterday but today? Well it has been fine today. 'They all do that sir' springs to mind. A good option is to go into the boot and disconnect all of the leads from the door/window controller (is this the ECU as you call it?), go and have a cup of tea and then reconnect them. It seems to work on most occasions by 'resetting' the box?! I have no other suggestions than waiting - mine had this problem yesterday, today it is fine. Bloody cars!

I've had this problem on my old Cerb. It's either the small micro switch acting up or more probably your connection block. It might look like it's ok, but the pins sometimes come loose and push apart despite the block itself being tight.
I seem to remember it being one of the corner wires but can't remember the colour.
I pulled the wire from the connector and crimped a new bullet connector on instead. Worked fine after that.

I have tested the micro-switch on the door, the one that the window operates when the door opens. That was ok. I looked and did clean two terminal blocks. These were the ones that connect the door opening switch and the tweeter, a square type multi-pin connector, and the other one, which is for the proximity switch. Even if these were duff I cant see why the window would stop working!
The window is now fully up. When I press the up switch on the window control panel I can hear a micro-switch going in the boot, but no click from the door at all. When I press the down button I get nothing, no tiny clicks just silence!
I really am scratching my head on this one. I want to try another window control box but I am not too keen on spending out the cash to find out its not that!

I get this every so often.
Lick your finger and rub the magnet on the sill.
Are you serious?????
But mine knows its shut because the light goes out! And would this stop the window from working?
Totally! It gets covered in crap on mine and the sensor stops realising that the door is closed because it doesn't make a connection.

What usually happens on mine is that I press the button to open the door and it opens without dropping the window. I drop the window a bit to shut it and the door shuts, but the window doesn't go up.
All i do when this happens is clean the metal plate on the sill and it springs back into life.
