Can anyone identify what the smaller/thinner of the two wires coming from my ECU is connected to or where it goes? It disappears up behind the dash and is cable tied to the rollcage bar that runs across the car.

The label on it doesn't suggest anything obvious, helpfully!

Olly

Fan over ride switch. Mine has similar going from passenger to driver side where there is a switch for turning them on.

However not needed it since coolant system upgraded.

Cheers Peter,

So, where is the over ride switch? I've never noticed one!

it was only a guess, not saying it is, but might make sense,

My switch is on the drivers knee cowling, so might be around there some where.

Mine is Not connected to anything??? So if I fit a standard switch I should have a fan override control via the ECU?

From memory (the car is currently 150 miles from me), the heat shrink on the wire in question says "RAYDEN" or "RAYDAN" on it. Does that mean anything or is that just the supplier of the heat shrink?

There is a map sensor up under the passenger side of the dash and on mine is wedged/zip tied to the dash brace bar, it has a small black cable running to it so I think it could well be for this. The map sensor then has a vacuum pipe that runs to the back of the passenger airbox on the 4.2 engine.

The map sensor is a good shout. Mine is a 4.2 and I know of the small pipe on the rear of the air box.

Just to close this thread off, I've now traced the wire in my original question; it goes to the chassis earthing point located under the central cuddy (below the stereo).

The wire to the vacum sensor (which was suggested as a posibility) splits from the main ECU loom further up, nearer to where it passes through the rubber boot in the bulkhead.
