They do sometimes crop up on eBay, but not always as a set of four scratchchin sometimes they are the variants from the Fords, with the four studs and these are the incorrect offset I believe.

My 2000MY that I purchased in 2002 was supplied with 17" RL7's. The sales guy told me the reason it came with 17" was that the 18" version were the ones prone to cracking and that they were doing free upgrades to spiders at the time (I couldn't get to the bottom of why it didn't have spiders on instead). I would love to have changed to spiders if possible though.

Pretty sure it was just a batch of 18's that were dodgy as acknowledged by the factory. Mine has 18's, I didn't know about the issues when I bought it but the previous owner contacted the factory and got a satisfactory response from them.
Either way I check them closely when I give it a wash.
