Hi all,

I'm looking for pointers as to how to remove my rear shelf.

I have removed the helmet holder and removed the two wing nuts securing the shelf. Disconnected the seat belt anchor points but it still won't budge. Any ideas?

Also, I want to retrim it (its that grotty old hessian stuff), so was thinking of carbon wrap or recovering with the material I salvaged from swapping out my door inserts.

Any ideas or piccies would be great!

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't use anything too shiny, might get reflections although the angle may be too shallow. How about dark coloured alcantara? Sorry don't know how the shelf comes out or even if it's a separate piece(?)

Its been a while since I did mine, but I seem to recall that there is a screw or two hidden under the side trim that the front seatbelt goes through. You need to either remove that trim panel too or risk cracking the fibreglass by prising it back to get to the screws.

Have you undone the bolt that holds the belt metal bracket in the centre? The bolt comes through from the boot above the fuel tank on the car centreline.

It's a pain to get out and a bigger pain to retrim due to the stepped section.

Good luck!!

Thanks all.

Will have another look when I get the chance.

Anything will look better than the mongy hessian that's already there! smile

Also don't let the seat belts wind themselves in as some of them won't come back out!

Not sure if this applies to the Cerb but I've never wanted to find out! Double them over and wrap with a bit of duct tape.

Seat belt area had little slots on mine so very easy to remove shelf whilst leaving seat belts all bolted in place.

And it was fixed in place at both ends with small self tapper that was hard to spot at first
