Hello everyone. I am new to this and just joined the forums. I currently own a cerbera. Having used it for two years the car has never let me down once. Joolz has looked after the car for me from day one, .checking over the whole car for me. He gave me a full report on things that needed fixing. The car smelled of fuel -more noticeable when in garage .Most of the fuel lines were perished or leaking, Joolz replaced all fuel lines and then he did all oil pipes as well .We then did preventive maintenance , replacing coil packs ,leads plugs, throttle pots,etc. Joolz then put it on the dyno. The car made 320 bhp [its a97 4.2] standard apart from a sports exhaust. He did notice the oil pressure was a bit low though. -40 cold, and 20 hot idle, -around 30 when driving. He explained there was no point in mapping the car as the engine was a bit worn. I only use it on dry weekend days. Joolz said it could last for years with this little use -or it could let me down tomorrow. I would totally recommend Joolz ,he is very helpful and honest and knows cerbs inside out. Anyway to cut along story shorter I decided to take it to andy at APM. Three weeks later and the car is ready to collect .The engine has been fully rebuilt ,I also took Joolz advise and had the inlets ported and heads skimmed . Andy told me the oil pressure is now over 70 when cold and 55 at hot idle.2000mls to run, in then re -map Joolz reckons should be around 380bhp ,collect next mon -EXCITED;

Welcome,
Sounds like a success!
Julian is fantastic, If I wasn't a tight Yorkshire man with a spanner in hand, I would be happy to let him look after my Cerb, unfortunately he gets all the horrible jobs from me!
If my engine goes pop, I already decided Andy @ APM will be doing the 4.7, I mean rebuild!
Loads of good info and genuine good tvr folk on here.

Mines been sorted by Joolz and makes 380bhp wink but the important thing he did for me was bring the torque curve banging in at 2k revs rather than 3k. It makes it so much more drivable.

Photos above took last year. Its a 97 4.2 but the new front and rear lights and 18 inch spiders make it look younger .It has an act sports exhaust with 3 inch tails, re-trimmed interior in cream and light green and alloy dash. Its a keeper.

nice exhaust, mine stick out quite a lot and I've got them off at the mo and have been considering chopping them down a bit

I'm a fellow cerbie owner, in Oswestry, so I'll be up for a run out once the roads are salt free.
I've been toying with the idea of a bit of engine work, so would be interested to see how yours compares.
Tied in with some chassis work, an interior tidy, and a paint job
.. This could be an expensive summer.

Hi Steve, wavey

Welcome to "The Madhouse". Superb story and plan.

Congrats and Best Wishes on everything.
You have done everything that I would have if I had limitless money.

Look forward to seeing 'before and after' photos of the Motor.

It's the bit I'm looking forward too - when you come down to the coast to knock a few hundred miles off I'll be able to keep up, after that I'll be chasing you! biggrin

I'd imagine he'll be keeping the 4.2 induction system, so he won't need to. According to people on here more knowledgable than me, it's far better than the standard 4.5 setup.
