WOOHOOO - First drive
Discussion
OK, so it wasn't a long drive but my project Cerbera has just had it's first outing. I need to do a few tweaks - the brakes are spongy and will need bleeding again and the geo is a mile out but I managed to drive "around the block" and made it back in one piece without any major drama. This was my pre-MOT short test run.
The car is silky smooth through the revs, I drove the car between 1500 and 2500 but no shunting at all. I have a feeling Joolz may have worked his magic on the engine already. It has his short induction pipes and the engine is way to smooth for it to be unmapped. It drives like a modern family saloon around town. I will open up the ECU and see if it has one of his stickers in.
You could tell it wanted to stretch it's legs though. I caught the throttle a bit sharp as I changed into second and the car just took off! It's a bit scary when the brakes are spongy.
So for now it's back to bleeding the brakes and then re-booking the MOT and a geo setup.

Glad yours went a bit better than mine!
Yes, I ready your post and left a comment on your thread...not good.I have just checked the ECU on may car to see if it has been mapped:

It looks like it has the generic chip from Joolz. That must be helping with the drivability and explain why the engine is more free reving. If that is his generic chip then people who have a custom map must have very special cars. The engine is very good now - it makes you wonder how much better it can get.
I like the fact that the chip has "latest" written on it but no date. I wonder if it is the latest, latest and what the difference from the non latest is.
I do have one problem though, the ECU doesn't have a cover.
I will have a look around the footwell in case it is under the carpet or something but I am pretty sure it is missing. Unless anyone has a spare cover I will probably knock one up from perspex for now (unless that is a bad idea as perspex often has some static charge).
I spent a large part of the day before the fateful test drive getting the air out of my brakes, the rears were fine but the fronts were a right pain. They at least did work well on my test drive.
When I fitted that Generic chip with the short pipes I didn’t really notice much different to the old set up. However I found a re-mapped chip for short pipes on ebay, fitted that & it was night & day!
I only took it for one drive with that chip in it was so good I figured the car deserved a rebuild before using it any more, that was over three years ago.
