Just returned from a 2000K round trip from blighty and have been hammered almost to death by the potholes and sleeping policemen that cover Kent, Surrey, West Sussex and Berkshire.
Can't believe that I returned with an exhaust and a set of Spiders that didn't look like threepenny bits. yikes

How the hell do you guys survive ?

Wiltshire's roads should be added to your list, potholes everywhere, complete st!

Before pedants jump in, I think you mean 2K rather than 2 million miles round trip - TVR are reliable, but not for 2M miles?

Nitrons is the answer - The Cerb just glides over the craters left in Hampshires finest roads.

I'm also on Nitrons....but the roads in South London are a disgrace, it's like chicanes swerving to miss them all.

Yer the UK is bad for potholes, but did you dodge Belgium on your trip Paul?

The E42 there makes the UK's pothole situation pale into insignificance!

I think I need Nitrons. Mine is so bouncy that I can corner faster in my S-Type.

Defo need nitrons and a good geo set up. My cerb is on par ride wise with our cooper s maybe slightly better over bumps so pretty good for a old sports car,

It's on the to-do list. It'll be later in the year though as it's going to Barry for a fair bit of other work next weekend and I've just bought another car too because I was feeling too wealthy. Excess money is suitably taken care of for a while!

So true. But at least it's more picturesque than the E40, which can match it for potholes in places anyway.

Hi Oliver wavey
I am a bit surprised by your comment actually.

Always take the E42 to and from England.
I remember doing the E42 a few decades ago on my GSXR1100J and hit a pothole that forced my testes into the back of my throat and I know that, despite almost constant maintenance, the road surface is becoming worse
BUT
that is 4 or 5 potholes in 100 miles.
In the counties mentioned I was getting at least as bad potholes as that 3-4 times in 100 yards.
PLUS
About 10 years ago the Belgians resurfaced the 140 miles of the E411 from Lux to Brux without closing the route at all whereas the British Highways Authority decided to close the M21 one Friday evening a couple of years ago which left me in a 3 hour jam trying to escape the torture.
yikes
(Thank Wheeler that I'd tightened up the newly-fitted water pipes that I;d put on just before departure thumbup)

The E42 wasn't just a few big potholes over the course of 100 miles. I'm thinking of the south/east bound carriageway between The French/Belgian border and Mons especially. I was positively shocked at the frequency of broken surface (in lane 1 especially), and found my eyes on even longer than normal cerbera stalks both times I've driven it. The first time - in April last year - I put it down to a result of the cold winter, but I was surprised to find the same conditions when I went back in October. I can't say I enjoyed it!

Yes, the UK's roads are particularly bad, but in the main it's on council maintained roads. The Highways Agency roads are better (but getting worse) and I think that's what caught my attention in Belgium. B roads I can understand, trunk roads at 130kph is another matter.

Anyway, I've wandered off topic somewhat. Sorry!

Ouch!

I have mine set up quite high and soft compared to others. Not going to help if you drop a wheel in a hole though

If your car is bouncy, then you have the dampers set to stiff, soften them up a few clicks and you will notice the difference.

I have my nitrons sitting with 500ib at the front and 450 rear spring strengths on 18" spiders.

I don't dare go over potholes
