Does anyone know what this is from. This was reported as an advisory on the last MOT so thought this is the time to do it. Managed to soak it in WD40 a couple of days ago and remove it today:-

I searched when i did mine, couldn't find anything so used a tvr parts supplier.

Boot it while your there....

That's funny as I was thinking it could do with being protected from the elements. Thanks for that idea. Will definitely put a boot on it. The MOT advisory was for excess play which it certainly had in the lower clamped to splined steering rod.

Beware that when you replace the upper UJ you may knock the steering column towards the cabin slightly. If this happens the nylon 'keeper' may pop out and you will need to remove the steering wheel to refit it. In the end the only way I could find to keep it in place was a tiny cable tie.
