Batteries finally dead
Anyone had one of these for a 4.5 cerb, or would like to suggest an alternative

Wrong battery. The terminals are the wrong way round and even if you get the 096R (with the reversed terminals) depending on your individual car, the 096 is enough to big to cause stress cracks in the F1 panel if you try squeeze it in - some report no problem but it wouldn't fit mine.
I put an Optima Red Top RTC 4.2 in my Cerb about 5 years ago and haven't had a problem with it since.

Looks like you could just use any piece of sheet steel and weld a captive nut to it in the right place? You could even drill right through the plate and fibre panel and fit a large rivnut? Never had to do mine, but it looks easy enough. Other than getting them rusty nuts off of course!

I can have a look into new brackets. I've made one for myself and for another member out of stainless.
Hi Peter
I did a stupid thing at last battery purchase and bought one that was one centimetre too long for the retaining bolt and clamp to be anchored

It now remains in place with "heavy wedging"

Can you conceive a bottom plate with a tighten-able 'u-clamp' fixation ?
I can imagine it in my mind's eye but the practicalities of producing it are beyond my limited toolset.
I can think of a way. But the plate for the battery to sit on would need to be fixed to the battery tray. Would require riv nutting or riveting to the GRP base.
Which given it's above ECU heater matrix area have to be very care ful drilling and making sure it's sealed.
Would a tray glued work?
