Does anyone have a spare left (odd bank) rocker cover for a 4.2 AJPV8 that they might sell me? are the 4.5 / 4.2 covers the same or different due to the inlet setup being different?

I don't have a spare, but there is a diffrance between the covers, the 4.2 have lugs on the top which support the 4.2 manifolds and take a bolt . The 4.5 s don't.

I think you can fit a 4.2 cover on a 4.5 but not visa versa

Please make your own mind up as to using this advice, but you'll probably get away without the vertical cam box supports for the 4.2 inlets .. many of them aren't spaced correctly anyway and already put a strain on the inelts, but also the inlets can't fall under their own weight or the weight of the airbox because the clamped-down fuel rail stops the inlets moving apart from each other.

I would nt risk putting putting 4.5 covers on a 4.2, the bolts into the cam cover lugs ties the induction down nicely.

Good point, can see that now.

Mine can't have been spaced properly and there was a bolt missing, which I replaced and then pulled the stud clean out of the cover leaving a lovely hole frown
