Did it the wrong way around!!!
Discussion
Hi fellow Cerbera drivers... I have recently purchased T234 KJF a 1999 Cerbera speed six that has only done 23000miles and wondered if anyone can tell me anything about the car. I appreciate I should have done this before parting with my money but I just got too excited when I got in it. Good news gladly received... Bad news... Please be gentle!
Full history with last service done in 2011... All TVR stamps in the book and all MOT's to validate mileage. Chassis looks pretty sharp to me and it had a full engine rebuild 600 miles ago albeit two and half years ago. The last owner had it for 8 years and apparently the engine rebuild was done by someone at straight six??? And cost about £8000. It also has some Gaz shocks. I got it a few weeks ago but noticed an oil leak so the garage have it back at the moment to fix that. One of the bonnet catches had snapped off too so they are fixing that. I have only done about 500 miles in it but I love it. Always had bikes but wanted something that me the wife and two little girls could all get in but was still as fun as a bike. Answer = Cerbera! Looking forward to meeting up with some other owners to chat rubbish and look at other Cerbs. Don't really see any about which was another attraction!
The car looks great and sounds decent enough. A word of disguised encouragement - it hasn't done much milage recently although it sounds like you're going to give it regular use... don't be too surprised if you get a spate of issues to resolve. Sitting around generally does Cerbs no favours but after a 'shake down' once they start getting used again they're fine. All I'm saying is don't lose heart of fear you have made a mistake if you get a few early problems
Welcome to Cerbera ownership
BTW although I did research it a tad first, I bought the first one I went to see around 18 months ago. I'm fairly handy and wanted a combination of engine and colour code numbers, figuring I could handle anything the car threw at me mechanically. So far, I have a car with the engine and colour I wanted and my only proper issue has been clutch hydraulics but that appeared to be down to the last guy using the wrong grease 1000 miles before I got the car which dissolved the seals. Happy days
