speedo doesnt work ???????

Has anybody got any ideas why the speedo on my cerbie only works after about 10 minutes driving moved sensor nearer no difference help??

Throw the speedo away, and get a GPS installed, cheaper and will do the job more accurately....

How accurate is GPS, I'm running tomtom on a PDA, in the cerb it's the same as the speedo, but in my crappy runabout it reads about 5mph under the speedo, while I realise that all speedo's differ, the GPS seems to take ages to catch up, especially in the cerb

At steady speeds, on the motorway, it's great, but varying speeds, like 30,40 - national limits, it takes about 3-4 seconds to stabalise.

Paul, no help but the speedo in my Griff never worked on cold mornings and only started working after about 10 mins/engine warmed. Took it to my dealer who said..err, they all do that sir! Not sure if the Cerb speedo is also aflicted by the cold?

I now use my Road Angel 2 in the Cerb and never look at my speedo now, other than to confirm that the speedo reads 5-8mph over the RA2/GPS readout. Never had a problem with it 'catching up'

I use my Road Angel 1, which is of course is accurate. It does however, take about a second to 'catch up'. Also be aware when under trees etc..., as it cant lock on to the satelites.

Found that tonight, tree lined road, and it got completely confused, it thought I was driving across a field at one point!!!!

I used the driver pre installed on tomtom, rather than the one that came with the receiver, wonder if that could be it??

To be honest I'm a complete biff when it comes to computers n stuff.

Anyway back to the topic....Paul have you checked that the phonic wheel is clean, the teeth can fill up with dirt, oil from the diff etc, if the pick-up can't see the gaps between the teeth it won't work properly.....only other thing I could suggest is to change the pick-up.

My Speedo and Rev Counter didn't work at all.

My rev counter didn't work at all. Speedy Cables rebuilt it for me.
My speedo doesn't do much below about 20 mph then flutters up to about 30, then ok. It's always been like this.

My speedo has just started to read 0 for the first 10 miles or so, it then works fine for the rest of the journey. What complicates matters is that I use the trip computer to measure my mileage so that I know when to refuel as my fuel gauge doesn't work either!

Mines booked in with Topcats to have the speed sensor changed, as this looks to be the cause

Mine did this, only it took a good 30 mins driving before it decided to work. A new sensor (the second in less than a year) sorted it out

Thanks for replys everybody fitted new sensor on back axle (£48) for sensor. works now no problem
