Hi all,
My boot light switch has expired the only one I can find is at race tech for £23 plus vat and postage, does any one have a cheaper source. I should be on Carl Bakers list for alarm replacement when he's over next but I wanted to get it working before hand
Also my clock doesn't work and it's light is not on when the lights are on. I've checked it's connected and it is. I can't find a clock for sale although I wouldn't mind the oil temp gauge option instead

Any ideas anyone

Hi Clive

The boot light switches are I believe Rover items from the 400, 600 or 800 models.

A while ago a large group of us bought oil temperature gauges from "Speedy Cables" which you may want to check out. The most difficult part of the clock to oil temperature gauge conversion was where to fit the temperature sender with a few places being suitable.

Regards
Simon

The boot light switch is very easy to repair. Remove it from the car, and the cover will just pop off the back with a little gentle persuasion with a fine screwdriver. Open it slowly so you can see how the contact and springs are arranged inside. Just clean the contacts with fine emery paper and grease them with a little Vaseline and reassemble. Chances are you will have fixed it.

They are indeed a Rover switch. So any scrap yard will be full of them. They are a door switch for 200, 25 as well as all the above.

Great thanks I will start looking off the rover switch I did take it to pieces but the springs have rotted away and turned to dust so it's not usable.
I will look into the speedy gauge option can it not be T'ed off the oil pressure switch?
