I removed sump plug to drain my oil and found a magnet, is it suppose to be attached or lose? It looks broken but no to sure.
Cheers in advance!

Deffo broken, more worrying is why it became broken in situ

Looks exactly like mine did except the specialist that did the previous service had used some silicone to try and glue it back on!!!
Probably had been dropped on the floor and just snapped the magnet off.

If your wanting to replace it next time with a new magnetic sump plug I think the cheapest fix is to use one from a Renault a quick search on ebay brings plenty up.
I was lucky enough to find a genuine secondhand one for sale which will be used next oil change.

This is what I used, wish I'd been able to find something less expensive though

I bought a 5/8" x 18 SAE nut first to test on the old plug to be absolutely sure it was the right thread.

Good Grief !
For £18.37 I would expect the damn plug to be able to pull the world off its axis yikes
