My speedo stopped working after I'd been slapping the Dimitrol around, so took the sensor out, cleaned up the face, snapped off the wires, repaired wires and refitted.
The speedo now doesn't start working until about 25mph, then kicks into life. If I slow down to a stop, it again takes until 25mph to start working but as I slow down, it registers the speed all the way down.
Could it be spray on the toothed wheel still interfering with the signal, the wires connected the wrong way round or simply that the unit is now U/S

That's how I set it, wound in by hand till touching, backed it off half a turn.
By the looks of the marks on the face, it probably was touching previously.
Taking it out for a test, my local speed trap display has me doing 25ish with a speedo indicating 30 - Tomorrow I'll be going by a newer sign to see how that one compares.

Alternatively you could fit one of the replacements that I supply. They are very slightly longer and a lot more sensitive, so you can get away with a 1mm gap. That is really handy if like me your diff is a bit worn and has some run out that would kill a sensor that got up close and personal.
I used to have an ad in the PH classifieds but it appears to have expired. I'll try to get it renewed shortly.
