I know there are lots of topics about wheels.
But couldn't really find an answer to my question.

My Spiders are buckled (aren't they all...) to a point that the car is now undriveable.
I looked at a lot of forged wheels but besides the Advan F7, couldn't find anything that I liked.
I know the SP12's are a popular choice, but I just don't like the look of them.
I liked Longbow's Compomotives but I e-mailed the company and they were currently unavailable until at least the end of march.

I'm sure I'm not the only one but I love the look of the spiders. so here's the question.
Has anybody ever done some research about getting them custom milled?
I have no idea, price wise, what to expect from a bespoke CNC'd wheel?

Any of you lot have experience with this?

Thanks!

Hiya - i agree that the Spiders look great, but the Raceline RL7s also look good, are stronger and a good bit cheaper?

No direct experience with CNC replica rims but always loved watching these guys on the Discovery Channel

http://billetwheel.com

Costs iirc were around $1,500 per wheel (a good few years ago). Plus you could take a nice trip to Southern California to pick them up smile

When these guys were in Luton they had a CNC machine to put any offset or hole pcd on there Blank wheels.
May be worth seeing if there still offering that service.

I saw these guys on an episode of Wheeler Dealers (Ford Pop episode), although looking at their website Spiders don't seem to fit with their normal offerings. Still, might be worth calling and having a chat with them.

Hi Nils,

There used to be someone in Antwerp whom made rims, but think they are no longer in business (and can't remember there name)

Got an answer for ImageWheels.
They said it wasn't possible to mill them
But they can make cast 2-piece spiders with bolts at the back so you won't see them.
They would be 18"x8j fronts and 18"x9j at the back, all ET40

Pricing I recieved is for 5 sets and would be around £330-335 + vat per wheel
That's £1330 + VAT for a set.

Mail Image:

  • Yes we can do one off wheels but it does depend on what it is and the amount of wheels.
Some style we can mill from billet but others are not possible to mill so have to be cast so require tooling.

Your style can not be milled only cast but would be identical but as a 2 piece wheel this is all the outer part cast with a bolt on inner rim.

bolts classic build at the rear of the wheel so not seen from the outside so inner rims can be replaced if buckled but we do our extra strong rolled edge inners for road use that do not buckle easy.

They work out lighter than one piece wheels but cannot advise weight until made but normally about 1kg lighter or at worst the same weight.

the price for 5 sets would be as follows.

8 x18 = £330.00 each x 10 = £3300.00

9x18 = £335.00 each x 10 = £3350.00

=£6650.00

20% V.A.T = £1330.00

TOTAL = £7980.00

Shipping to Belgium would be £125.00 per set of 4 plus V.A.T.

Shipping to Uckfield would be £50.00 per set of 4 plus V.A.T.

Delivery would be 9-10 weeks.

Interesting bit of investigative quotes, and if they are lighter, stronger and repairable if damaged, thats a bonus. I may be interested, depends on how close to spiders they look and if you can get 10 buyers.

I gave them a picture of the spiders and said they must look exactly like that
so that shouldn't be a problem I think
This is the price for 5 sets, so if anyone is interested just shout wink

Will cast 2 piece spiders be that much stronger than the originals?

They can be machined but the billet would run to around £600. If they could be sand cast first then they could be machined to size fairly easily. It could be worth looking at the cost of a casting.

I could have a look at making one in around 5 months time but you'd be looking at around 1k per wheel from billet. Something like 6082T6
