Thinking off getting a road angel and would like a few answers to questions PLEASE,
1. How long does it take to up-date on dial up approx
2. Does anyone get false alerts when instaled on a Cerby dash board top.
3. Is the unit reliable

I have the original RA with radar alert.
It works fine sitting in the big hole bit behind the gear knob - I've had it hard wired in.
I have never had a false alarm with it - except for one section of the M25 where there is a camera on a road that goes under the motorway. It bleeps at that.
Don't know about dial-up updates but on broadband it takes about 10 seconds.
If I had waited then the RA2 would look a lot better as it is smaller. Not sure about your first question, as i'm like angusfaldo...on broadband.
Question 2 is never, and 3 is yes. However, never had the laser alert trigger the unit off yet. Its supposed to pick up laser scatter. Perhaps i've just been lucky, or travelling within the speed limit.

Hi, I use a road angel 2 in my Cerb - its mounted on the windscreen in the centre and plugs into the cigarette lighter. 1st download takes about 15-20 mins, after that its only a matter of seconds. I have never had a false alarm yet, however its only as good as the database - I've had alerts where there has been no camera but the white lines were down indicating a camera had been there. Its a very reliable unit - the gps speed is handy too, interestingly the Cerb speedo is very well calibrated, even up to very high speeds. The only time the laser alert has gone off was exiting the Pink Elephant car park at Heathrow which is just off the runway, so I assume it picked up some scatter from the runway systems!! I'm busy plumbing in a LRC 100 laser diffuser though for laser protection....

Beware of the jammer. Apparantly, they also video your car, and if they suspect a jammer, it gets logged somewhere. If it happens again, they can come and arrest you for using it. Just read on here about a week ago, that this is now happening, and convictions have now taken place.

Found quite the opposite on mine, as it reads over by around 8% (better than underreading at least) compared to my RA2. My old S (1991) was spot on with the GPS upto 120 (on an airfield of course

lazy again by not attatching it to the windscreen properly? Yes I know the unit should be high enough to pick up lasers through front/back windscreens, just that its so easy to stick it in the hole (said the vicar to the nun)

Tried the mini, circular mount, but that was a little crap to say the least.
