First time adjusting throttle pots :-)
Discussion
Hi There,
Pretty chuffed with myself as I have just adjusted the throttle pots for the first time using the MBE software
.
Sensitive little buggers and thats for sure! I got them reading 15.2 with the throttle closed and then 19.4 with the idle screw adjustment.
Only thing is that the car idles at 1000rpm now rather than 950 (as per the instructions).
Any ideas what could be causing this? I take it that it's nothing to worry about too much?
Love getting my hands dirty though and thanks again for posting lots of helpful stuff in the past guys
.

Hi Dave,
I found the pin out for the RS232 lead on here (posted by Malman
).
Pin out
Hope this helps, I would say encourage anyone to try this to be honest as imo as long as you're careful with what you're doing the worst case scenario is the car being in the same state as when you started.
This forum has been a wealth of information especially once you master the search engine
.
Good luck

Could be wrong here Duncan but thats likely to be the same jpeg file as the one contained on the CD you got the program on.

Don't be too quick to curse your car. A lot of faults can be generated by just having a dud battery for a period of time. Reset all the faults, take the car for a quick drive and then recheck.

Hi Julian,
I got the software in an e-mail from someone kind enough to pass it on.
Couldn't see a diagram like that with it but it sure did the job.
I take it you tune your Cerb yourself, how often do you find you need to do it?
Duncan
Oh, Only do it once a year, and only have the car comming up for two years, so 'once'
You may wanna ask the guy who gave you the program for the rest of the disc at some point. Some very useful info on it
All of the faults cleared exept afr .witch i think may be down to changing the fuel pump(pressure)or purge pipes.where dose the vent pipe off the filler neck go to?
she drives real smooth again apart from a hickup about 2k wen she is booted,
i cant run the computer wen driving as the laptop i got has goost batterys.can i run it off the fag lighter socket?so im going to check the maps again b 4 fitting new pots as one twitches a small amount .
thanks again .

Hi Froggie,
The AFR fault is very likely caused by your dodgy throttle pot.
Glad you have been able to sort it out so far
.
I should imagine the software is going to come in handy in the future
.
Julian, I was just glad to get what I did really, I have the help files etc but seeing as it was FOC I am more than happy
.

One side is well known to twitch and is a fault of the ECU circuit rather than the throttle pot itself.
