Weak boot release

I've just replaced the boot release solenoid with a new one from Maplin but it is still pulling very weakly; I can stop it retracting with my fingers. Must be an electrical problem somewhere. What should I check?

Maplin sell the solenoid? I went in there looking for the motor for the solenoid and didn't find anything. I replaced the motor from a similar model off Ebay 271069138828 and it works perfectly, everytime.

Exactly the same. After fitting it all back together it works fine. Opens first time every time so much better than before.
