Ignore my 3 previous attempts at posting! Bloody I phones.
My 4.2 is currently only idling on the passenger bank. The drivers bank seems to kick in once driving at around 2-3000 revs.
I've changed both coil packs but this hasn't fixed the problem.
Before I start to change throttle/lambda sensors etc is there anyone around the Chipstead Surrey area who owns a laptop and software who may be willing to assist with diagnosing the fault?
A case of beer or 2 will be waiting.

I'm not that close but do have the software a laptop and some spare throttle pots for a 4.2...

...I'm in Didcot and in the garage all weekend.

I'm in Sutton so just round the corner and free on Saturday. Got a laptop with the software and leads, but no spare throttle pots...

When you changed your coils did you put them back correctly? I had a similar issue where it started and ran ok but only on one bank, it took my a while to find the issue and it was down to the coils being handed, one should face left and the other should face right with the low tension cables at opposite ends. Simple mistake but had me scratching my head for a while until I spotted it, a huge bang in the exhaust followed by an intake spit back gave me a clue

The drivers bank wasn't firing at idle prior to replacing the coil packs and replacing them hasn't cured the issue.

Thank you for your offer. I work Saturdays so will see if I can leave early if you are available in the afternoon?

That should be pretty straightforward to sort once one of the above chaps gets the software on it. I use Aide's Android app. It's brilliant. Not a lot of use on an iPhone though...

Yeah, afternoon should be ok. Just had a thought though. Do you know if you have a 9 pin or 3 pin connection for the ECU? I've only got the 9 pin serial lead.

Good question.
I've located the ecu and there is a small lead with 2 pins coming out of the main loom directly plugged into the ecu. But I can't see a 3 or 9 pin connection. Do I need to open up the ecu itself and check inside?
Electrics are not my forte.

Having similar problems to you...devoloped a misfire and have changed the coil packs, lambdas, checked plugs and did a compression check. Misfire still there.

You need to take the top off the ECU and it will probably reveal a 9 pin D socket.
I have the AJP app also, but all seems well on the readings. I'm figuring maybe a HT lead or injector fault?

Thanks waveydavey. Hope you sort your issue out without too much more expence.

If you have a misfire then plugs and leads are what I'd replace first.

Oh and I have a 9 pin!

Rough idle sorted. The car is back to normal.
Thank you to JABBAH who came over this afternoon and worked a bit of Magic with his lap top. Appreciate your help!!
It would appear that when I had my clutch replaced the garage had re connected the lambda sensors the wrong way round. So swapped them back over and a bit of lap top magic and I'm smiling again.
