IIRC Tescos wanted minimum 5 years when I was insured through them, but it was still much cheaper to transfer NCB from my 'family' car and pay extra premium on that.....having said that, one year on, another years NCB and Tescos premiums jumped right up for some reason, and found at least 3 others cheaper!
I'm 25 with a 4.5 cerb, I insure the car for 4000miles a year, that hope fully will be realistic figure even taking in to consideration the summer driving. I pay about £650 but I am a named driver, this is cheating however I have no no-claims due to having company cars for the last 4 years.
Are you going to be using the cerbera for day to day commuting in London?
If so, if I were you I would insure the cerbera for 4000 miles a year and use it on the weekends and buy a shed for getting stuck in traffic jams for 2 hours a day! It will be no use having a 400bhp motor when your average speed on the way to work is 10mph.

Theres a lot more to it. Its called experience.
Age brings experience and a reduction in risk.
The are you live, your NCB, and your occupation can sometimes also have a bearing on the end quote.
The government is making the young drivers life a nightmare, but its all in the name of 'keep the youths off the roads'.
Have you ever driven a 1200kg car with over 300lb/ft at the rear wheels on the roads? You'll be in for a surprise if you havent, its a handful to say the least. One mistake, and you or the car is a sure gonna.
Good-luck with the purchase though, but be very prepared with the running costs - its all down to luck, but if you're lucky - you'll be enjoying countless nights of driving for no reason but to just drive (make sure you drive between petrol stations, these beasts can drink whatever they want when they feel like it, and never trust the fuel tank gauge!)
Thanks for your comments everyone. I know that realistically the Cerbera is not my next car. I've driven cars of similar bhp, but the torque is what i'm not used to so i think it'll be a few cars down the line.
I was just curious as to the insurance as i've found insurance quotes for certain cars i'd assume would be more expensive are in fact cheaper.
I'd like to go for a Chim or V8S first but i really don't feel happy parking a convertible in London. It's a safe area, a 996tt, DB9, DB7 and dozens of SL55s etc park on the road in the same area, but i'd prefer the security a coupe offers.
edit - Marra... i commute either on foot or the tube so it'll be an evenings and weekend car

Do you still have the company car? Im guessing dependant on insurer but, a couple of my employees have recently opted out of the company car scheme, and I wrote a letter to the employees' insurance companies that they had been driving company cars for x years accident free, and the insurers agreed to allow them the relevant NCDs. Just an option

What did you Cerbera owners have before the Cerb? I assume most are Chimaera/Griffith owners... but what else?
I had a Corrado VR6 and then an E36 M3 (plus loads of others not worth mentioning!), assuming you want RWD the M3 was a great car. Although I suspect insurance maybe a problem
For info, I insure my Cerb as a future classic with Classicline - limited to 5000 miles pa, but sub £500 insurance using no NCB...

I am 25 and keep a Cerbera in Central (ish) London on the street. I think I have a 6000 mile limit and pay somewhere around £900 with Direct Line with 3 years NCB. Before the TVR I had a Lotus that I also kept on the street in London and never had any problems with it being broken into. I am slightly of the opinion that as long as you don't leave anything in sight and obviously expensive in the car then you won't get opportunist thieves and those stealing to order will take it whatever you try and do.
As from going from a Lotus to the TVR - I spent some time on RideDrive courses and feel a lot better for it. Can't recommend enough.

I’m also 25 doing the same insurance wise, but I only use the car on the weekend and stick to a very fast 1.5 diesel scenic for the day to day stuff
I had a z3m before and a 328 before that, both real wheel drive with a bit of power but nothing compares with the cerbera for being a dirty rear wheel grunt monster that wont give second chances!

I've taken stuff down the tip in the Cerb! If it's a crappy job that you don't want to do, you might as well do it in a manner to provide some enjoyment.
The looks on some peoples' faces are great.
Me too. Dropped off 4 bags of garden rubbish and a load of cardboard boxes at the weekend. Much quicker than taking the shoppingtrolley
