Car has gone totally mental!

Right, please bare with me on this one!
Decided to replace the 2amp connections going to one of the black boxes above the fuel tank (Light switching unit), as a couple of the connections looked burnt out and the headlights have been playing up for ages.
After I finished, switched ignition on to test, and before I even tried the lights, the hazards, windscreen wipers and washers came on and stayed on!
Switched off ignition, and re-checked my new connections in the boot, and found that I had got 2 wires on the wrong terminals OOPS! Corrected this, and thought, that should sort out the problem, but no, car is still throwing a serious wobbly!

but I have checked all the fuses in the boot and cant find any blown ones.
Anyone have ANY ideas? Apologies for the length of the post to anyone who didn't get bored and has read this far!

I did think that you may have blown a fuse but you say you have checked them.
Do you have the owners book? Is there one fuse that deals with all the stuff going wrong?
I'm nowhere near the car just now but I'll have a look later and if I see anything that might help I'll let you know.

Seperate fuses for indicators/wipers/lights, and I have checked them all. Will probably have to take it to the dealer this week (if they have time to look at it). I will have to take out the fuses for the indicators and wipers so I can drive there without them on all the time!

Is it the Indicator Control Unit? It has a 17 way connector on it but only uses about ten wires into it?
Have a look at the sticker saying what it is, it should have a number on it like J55.
If you can also let us know what wires you crossed (position and colour) then I'll try and see if I can trace it for you and see where it goes.
I'd hazard a guess that it sounds like it will end up at the steering wheel control module, which surprisingly enough it's behind the steering wheel

The box I re-wired was the 'light switching unit', can't check which 2 wires I mis-connected as my car is outside and it's a bit dark and scary out there now! I tried taking the 2 ribbons off of the steering wheel control module to re-set it, but that didn't seem to help. Battery is disconected now, maybe it will have magically fixed itself by the morning!

I had problems with my headlights, which turned out to be the unit. However, mine was ok when I tried it.

Is it possible that you have just got everything confused????....Disconnecting the battery may help, but when mine had 'fruit out' recently, I took out the small silver key besides the ash tray for a minute or two, replaced it, set alarm, then disarmed it, bingo...everything back to normal!...

Well, I am easily confused.......so probably! I tried turning the little silver key, but maybe didn't give it long enough. I guess leaving the battery disconnected will have the same effect?

Have you checked the fuses with a multimeter rather than just your codgered old eyes? When mine had it's fit that time, it was a fuse (no. 7?)
Cheeky monkey Mr Fletcher! Although large quantities of alcohol does seem to affect my eyesight.....will check again in the am. Thanks.
In case anyone has a similar problem, managed to get car sorted today.
After a bit of tinkering, the extremely helpful James at Dream Machines identified the problem as a faulty "steering wheel functions control unit". This is the little grey box under the dials. Although he didn't have one in stock, kindly 'borrowed' one from one of their cars. All back to normal.
Thanks again to James, and I hope this info may be of use to someone else stupid enough to fiddle around with Cerbera wiring like me!
