Hi Folks, am new but have been watching the forum for some time........
I've tried searching through the forums for information on Goodyear F1's, can I ask if anyone has fitted a set to a 4.5 Cerb on spyders?
In particular I would like the opinion of anyone that has had a set fitted in excess of 6k miles and used them for track days and all weather road use.
How are they wearing?
What's the grip like when hot?
How do they react to standing water?
The So2's originally fitted to our Cerb were ok, not bad in the wet, progressively breaking away (allowing great power slides on track days) reasonable wear rate, acceptable tracking on poor roads etc
The Toyo T1 proxes presently fitted grip well in the dry but let go very suddenly (I have experimented with tyre pressures).
In the wet they do not inspire confidence allowing the back end to step out too easily.
As a result they have lasted nearly twice as long as the So2's.
This is not good as it suggests I'm slowing down

S03's were god awful on my car quite literally the worst tyre I have experienced 
.
Falken FK451's are sublime imo and I will be sticking them on my Cerbera again and again.
The Falken's have been tested in all the awful road conditions this year and are confidence inspiring and superb.
Try them and I'm sure you won't be dissapointed

Spot on! I concurr...
But the Falkens are not bad, softer compound, a little extra firmness compared to Toyos, but I dont trust either the Toyo's or Falkens at 180+ speeds for long duration... (gonna sit tight and wair for Duncan to come along with a big fish to whallop me now

! Think we'll leave this one inbed Ash although I will say that doing 180+ I wouldn't trust the car let alone any tyres that could be put on

Hi Pauline, Haven't had the car on track as of yet but they're quite simply sublime as a road tyre in all the awful weather/road conditions we've experienced this year
. Best tyre/car combination I have had so far and would recommend them very highly

From my experience on the Cerb & Tusc (both on 18" spiders)...
Proxes = good all-round tyres. Particularly good in the wet & were hard wearing. They did tend to break away a bit suddenly, though, and could've done with a bit better dry grip.
SO3s = worst tyre I've ever had on a performance car. After 4,000 miles of trying to stick them out (on the front), I gave up and switched them to the back. They tramlined horrifically, wore quickly, and inspired NO confidence in the wet. Truly shocking for the money.
Eagle F1s = also good all-round tyres. Have many of the same qualities as the Proxes but seem to wear a bit quicker & make up for it with a bit better dry grip.
Can't comment on "on the limit" wet grip, as I'm not that much of a loon.
Will be giving both the Falkens and Michelin Pilotsports a try at some point...

I run F1's on the front and SO3's on the rear. And no I didnt swap tyres around etc. Looked at the properties of the tyres, worked out the widths required and then went up to joolz to have the 4 new wheels and tyres mounted with nitrons set optimally.
The setup worked, wacked the foot down, maybe a hop, but traction baby, yeah!
Getting the tyres right for each car is a personal choice and also is affected by the make/condition of your dampers/springs and toe/camber settings... also the pressure you use and the size of tyres and type of alloys and their width and size also - and finally - your driving style has a major part in this!
I think the best thing to do is look at your budget and then see what others are using in a similar budget on the same type of wheels and suspension setup. Joolz can help you out on that and he can get great deals on tyres too and can reconfigure your suspension and alignment to suit your driving style - if you're the type who drives everywhere sideways, then he'll have a setup just made for you too...

He he! See Ash I'm not alone in my opinion of just how awful S03's are on these cars

SxS ..Joolz is a bit too far away from me.
The Cerb has been a really good car and I've no wish to mess with it, especially with another in the pipeline.
The factory set up is a good compromise between road and track use and JSG, like you, I like a car that feels as if it's running on rails.
However, if you go beyond that reasonable limit I prefer it to breakaway progressively not suddenly.
I appreciate your opinions......and would be interested to hear of anyone trying Mitchelins or any others not mentioned above.

Would be interested if anyone's tried the new Toyo T1Rs on 18" spiders, as they're my current favourite idea at the moment once I wear out any of the current set (which'll be another year or two at this rate!)
