Windscreen Filler

My 2002 Cerbera has the windscreen filler situated right underneath the offside air intake hose and is a right 
to open, nevermind attempt to fill it.
Previous models did it sensibly like this though, where it was easy to get to:
Does anyone know how they changed it, and more importantly a good method for filling up without leaving wiper fluid everywhere?
