Feeling incredibly dumb and P*ssed off. In the process of putting engine and gearbox back into the car. Got it wrong when removing the oil filler bolt and started removing the gear selector pivot pin (T50 torq head on the passengers side top gear box) - I insist that I'm not insanely stupid - it is the first time I've messed with this car - OK so I'm expecting lots of comments!!!
Tried to put the pivot pin back in but noticed that the gear stick is very very tight to move now - can anyone advise just how much damage I'm likely to have done and what will need to be done to sort it. I'm also just starting to take out the gearbox - any advise on what to do and not do is welcome - at the moment I think that there are 4 bolts on the bellhousing and 2 allen bolts on the starter - what is the best way to tackle this job??
It is a 97, 4.2 ajp, presumably with a T5 box
Many thanks for any help
Mike

If the 5-R shift lever has dropped when the pivot came out (which it sounds like) you will need to strip the box to put it back together properly. How much damage you have done depends on how hard you have forced the lever to move, but again you wont be able to tell for sure without dismantling the box.
The gearbox rebuild manual is here http://www.tvr-cerbera.co.uk/GearBoxManual/
To drop the box follow the instructions in section H of the workshop manual here http://www.tvr-cerbera.co.uk/files/WorkshopManual/...
and yes you do need to turn it upside down to get it out!

I found this video extremely helpful when fitting the billet steel 5th gear support.

I was also lucky that Tanguero had previously shown me how to remove the tail and top cover as well.
