my 97 4.2 had an engine rebuild 1500 miles ago and runs perfectly-until now. This morning I took the car for a hoon round the local a roads checking the new nitrons as you do. When I accelerate hard ie foot to the boards to the red line in 2nd 3rd and 4th alot of oil smoke appears after a few seconds.
The smoke has come from 2 places. From oil dropping onto the exhaust manifolds from the seal at the bottom of the fibreglass air intake box on the drivers side of the engine and from the right hand exhaust(at the back of the car).
I took off the flexible air intake hose (150mm diameter) leading to the air filter in the nose of the car and found the hose holding oil. This oil has actually dripped through the air filter and is dripping out of the nose of the car.
I took off the fibreglass air box etc and this is also holding oil. The trumpets and butterflys are also a little oily. This is, I assume, how the oil is getting into the heads causing the smoke from the right hand exhaust.
This does not happen if I drive the car normally ie not thrashing it.
The 25mm diameter breather that leads to the front of the drivers side engine bank is clear and the wire mesh filter in the bottom of the airbox is clear. The small breather that returns to the top rear of the engine seems clear. When I blow through it there is a hissing sound from the metal connector by the fuel intake at the rear of the engine.
My belief is that the oil is coming up the large 25mm breather pipe under enough pressure to force it's way through the wire mesh into the air box and spray around then getting into the trumpets and through the gasket onto the exhaust.
I dismantled it all, cleaned it up and drove normally ie not thrashing it for 30 miles. All is fine-no oil in the hoses or air box. But when I then give it some for only a minute or so back comes the problem.
All and any ideas welcome. Could I have a blocked breather elsewhere? Should there be another filter or something to stop the oil coming up the pipe? Is it likely to be something more serious?

If you have oil coming out of the breather I could be a ring gone causing the crankcase to be pressurised.
To be honest I would give Joospeed a call, there is knowone better for this sort of thing.
