On my cerbera the bonnet catch is in the open position when the wheel is fully left or fully right position. It only locks for a small fraction of the movement around the center. But I can't see a way of making it stay there every bumpy bit of road and it jolts it open.
There must be a lock or method of adjustment I'm missing ?

Help please.

with the bonnet up turn the nob... does it lock? And how far do your rods move in the engine bay?
There is a spring loaded ball bearing held in place by a small grub screw in the handle that holds it locked or open.

Which in turn involves the old upside down in the footwell with the pedals digging into your neck to remove, check spring and ball and adjust correctly smile

With the bonnet up and handle turned full lock left the rods are open. As you turn the knob the rods move out to the locked position but nothing stops it so it carries on past the lock position until it's all the way right and the rods are open again.

I guess this is where the spring thing should go?

But I can't see a groove where the ball bearing should slot into.

That's the one lol

Unless I'm barking up the wrong tree (which is very possible lol) it sounds like your ball bearing needs adjusting.
Here is a pic I took many many years ago (9 to be exact!!) of the mechanism, if you like, with the main nob removed.

Number 3 is the grub screw (allen key) with a spring behind it pushing a ballbearing onto the shaft 2 that has a cut out that locks the nob in place. You may need to just tighten the allen key or if it's dropped out pray you haven't hoovered your footwell for a while as the parts will be there.
Hopefully this helps.

Looking at your pic it could just be your locking bolt is missing so an even easier fix.
But remember to align it up so it locks at the right point.
